Mervi Miettinen, Ph.L., is a PhD student at the School of Language, Translation and Literary Studies at the University of Tampere in Finland. Her PhD dissertation focuses on recent superhero comics and their relationship to American popular geopolitics, with a particular interest in the representation of masculinity, violence, and the state of exception.
She has presented several papers at comics-related conferences both in the UK and the United States, and her publications include scholarly articles published by John Benjamins and McFarland.
