Fredrik Strömberg is a PhD student at Department of Media and Communication Studies, Malmö University, and the theme of his thesis is the graphic novel Persepolis by Iranian-French artist Marjane Satrapi. Strömberg has written several books on comics, e.g. Black Images in the Comics (2003), The Comics go to Hell (2005) and Comic Art Propaganda (2010). Among his academic work are the books Vad är tecknade serier? En begreppsanalys (2003) and Manga! Japanska serier och skaparglädje (2007). Strömberg is editor of Scandinavian Journal Comic Art, an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open access journal focusing on articles by Nordic academics and/or on Nordic themes.
